A legacy celebration is a personalized event to honor a loved one, which can be as beautiful, joyful, and as memorable as they were. We don't have to be bound by the tradition of a somber gathering to mark the passing of a loved one. There are a multitude of wonderful, unique, and yes, joyful ways, to remember our friends and family.
(Scroll down for a few examples.)
Legacy Celebrations typically are scheduled after body disposition has occurred. A family may choose to hold a formal funeral or small family ceremony separate from the legacy celebration, whatever aligns best with family wishes.
Celebrations are designed to reflect the essence and personality of the honoree. They are an opportunity for friends and family to enjoy a true celebration of life. In some cases it may be possible for the honoree to be involved in the planning of the event. If you're willing to have candid conversations with love ones, a world of wonderful possibilities may be revealed. For example, a family may be able to take the time to leaf through photo albums, hearing some of the stories that have made up a lifetime. Pieces of those stories can then be incorporated into the celebration.
